Padmaavat is a 2018 Indian epic period drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Loosely based on the epic poem Padmavat by Malik Muhammad Jayasi, it stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, a Rajput queen known for her beauty, wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh, played by Shahid Kapoor. Sultan Alauddin Khilji, played by Ranveer Singh, hears of her beauty and attacks her kingdom to claim her. Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Raza Murad, and Anupriya Goenka featured in supporting roles.[1][6]
With a production budget of ₹2.15 billion (US$32 million), Padmaavat is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.[7][8][9] Initially scheduled for release on 1 December 2017, Padmavat faced numerous controversies. Amid violent protests, its release was indefinitely delayed. In December, the Central Board of Film Certification approved the film with few changes, which includes the addition of multiple disclaimers and a change in title.[10][11] Padmaavat was rescheduled for release on 25 January 2018 in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D formats, making it the first Indian film to be released in IMAX 3D.[12]
Padmaavat received mixed reviews. Critics praised the visuals, the cinematography and Singh's portrayal of Khilji, but criticised its storyline, execution, length and adherence to regressive patriarchal mores.[13] Critics also disliked the portrayal of Khilji as a stereotypical evil Muslim king and Ratan Singh as the righteous Hindu king.[14][15][16][17][18][19][20] Despite not being released in some states of India, it grossed over ₹5.85 billion (US$87 million) at the box office, becoming a commercial success and one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.
Padmaavat is the third collaboration between Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The trio had worked before in Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela (2013) and Bajirao Mastani (2015), while it is Kapoor's first film with the three.[44] Their co-star from the previous films, Priyanka Chopra was also in consideration to play the title role.[45]
Shahrukh Khan was offered the part but felt it was not "meaty" enough and declined; failure to agree on his fee may have been a factor.[46] Shahid Kapoor was finally cast to play Ratan Singh with an assurance of a good enough part and a hefty fee.[47] For his role, Kapoor undertook rigorous training under trainer Samir Jaura and followed a strict diet for 40 days. He also learnt sword fighting and the basics of Mardani khel, a weapon-based martial art, and admitted that it had been one of the most physically and emotionally challenging roles of his career.[48]
Ranveer Singh portrays the antagonist of the film, Alauddin Khilji, the first negative role of his career.[49] Director Bhansali had given him books to read delving into the psyche of dark rulers of history such as Adolf Hitler, asserting that he had to completely forget who he was before he could play Khilji.[50] Singh trained under Mustafa Ahmed to get into proper shape for the role. The actor worked out twice a day for six days a week.[51] Playing Khilji so affected Singh's personality and behaviour that he had to see a psychiatrist to return to normal.[52]

n the year 2015, it was confirmed by director duo Abbas-Mustan that a third installment in the Race franchise was being planned with Saif Ali Khan in lead role.[4][5] In the year 2016 it was reported that producer Ramesh Taurani had approached Salman Khan for Race 3 but Salman refused to do the film and asked Ramesh to make some changes in the script.[6][7] This report was confirmed to be true by Salman Khan himself at the Trailer launch event of the film on 15 May 2018.[8][9] In August 2017, it was reported that Salman Khan had agreed to be a part of Race 3 on the condition that choreographer turned director Remo D'Souza would be the one to direct the film.[10][11] In August 2017 it was reported that Saif Ali Khan had decided not to be a part of the film as he was opposed to the idea of him playing a parallel lead to Salman Khan.[12] After media reports surfaced about Katrina Kaif, Jacqueline Fernandez and Deepika Padukone being considered for the female lead opposite Salman Khan, it was confirmed during August 2017 that Jacqueline Fernandez had been finalized for the role.[13][14][15][16] To prepare for the action sequences that she had to do in the film, Jacqueline underwent extensive training in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).[17]
Filming
The shooting of the film began on 9 November 2017 at the Mehboob Studios in Mumbai.[18][19][20] The filming of Race 3 moved to Bangkok in Thailand for its second schedule where they filmed a song and an action sequence, which was choreographed by Anal Arasu, at the Floating Market and Rose Garden as well as the jungles of Kanchanaburi Province.[21][22] After finishing the shoot in Thailand, the production team reached Abu Dhabi for its next schedule. The shooting schedule in Abu Dhabi lasted for 35 days where filming was done at Emirates Palace, Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi, The St Regis Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, Emirates Steel and the Liwa Desert.[23][24] The action sequences in Abu Dhabi were choreographed by Tom Struthers, who has previously worked on movies like Inception, The Dark Knight and Dunkirk.[23][25][26] For its next schedule the film unit moved to Kashmir and later on to Ladakh where Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez filmed a romantic song.[27][28][29] During the shooting, Salman Khan was convicted in the Blackbuck poaching case[30] on 5 April 2018 by a Jodhpur Sessions Court, as a result of which the remaining patchwork of the film was completed in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan instead of Abu Dhabi because the film was running behind its schedule and Jaisalmer had a landscape similar to that of Abu Dhabi

Dear Zindagi (lit. Dear Life) is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Gauri Shinde. It was produced by Gauri Khan, Karan Johar, and Shinde under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment, Dharma Productions, and Hope Productions respectively. The film features Alia Bhatt in the lead role, with Shah Rukh Khan, Kunal Kapoor and Ali Zafar in supporting roles. The plot centres on a budding cinematographer named Kaira, who is discontented with her life and meets Dr. Jehangir, a free-spirited psychologist who helps her to gain a new perspective on her life.
Development of the film began in 2015, when Shinde signed Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan for a film to be made under her banner. Principal photography took place in Goa and Mumbai, in the period from 21 January to 20 May 2016. The film features a score composed by Amit Trivedi and lyrics written mostly by Kausar Munir. Dear Zindagi released on 23 November 2016 in North America, two days before its worldwide release on 25 November 2016, to commercial success and generally positive reviews. It received a number of accolades at Bollywood award organisations, with particular praise for Bhatt's and Khan's performances, direction, and film score.
The soundtrack was released by Sony Music India. The full album was released on 15 November 2016.[25] Audio Jukebox was released on 21 November 2016 on YouTube.
The song "Ae Zindagi Gale Laga Le"; written by Gulzar and was originally composed by Ilaiyaraaja and sung by Suresh Wadkar for 1983 film Sadma; has been recreated for the film. While, lyrics for the other songs in the album are written by Kausar Munir.
